James J. Damato Biography

James J. Damato is the Borough Administrator and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Borough.  The Borough Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day business affairs of the Borough.  Mr. Damato supervises all department heads and coordinates or directs the operations, activities and administration of Borough departments, divisions, offices, boards and agencies, and oversees the operating and capital budgets.  The Borough Administrator attends all meetings of the Borough Council, as required.

In addition to the development and implementation of sound administrative and employment practices, Mr. Damato is responsible for presenting recommendations to the Borough Council and for implementing Council mandates. Mr. Damato also recommends personnel appointments and makes suggestions to the Council concerning the business and affairs of the Borough. 

Mr. Damato received his BA in Political Science from Montclair State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Rutgers University and a Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University.  Mr. Damato is also a member of the New Jersey Bar, a Qualified Purchasing Agent, and R. 1:40 Qualified Mediator
